A fixed reduction module is an effective means to reduce the typically much too high rear differential gearing found in piston engine designed vehicles. When a fixed reduction is combined with a shiftable transmission section, it becomes an effective means to get great acceleration, impressive hill climbing ability and still being able to travel at highway speeds. |

EV3 – Fixed Reduction
Description:
IEdrives offers a fixed reduction gear box, (non shiftable), that can either stand alone or be integrated into an IEdrives transmission.
A fixed reduction module is an effective means to reduce the typically much too high rear differential gearing found in piston engine designed vehicles.
When a fixed reduction is combined with a shiftable transmission section, it becomes an effective means to get great acceleration, impressive hill climbing ability and still being able to travel at highway speeds.
IEdrives’ EV3 series of heavy duty transmission components are specifically designed for use with electric motors that power medium and heavy duty trucks and buses. The EV3 series utilizes planetary gear sets to provide the highest efficiency and extreme service durability required by commercial trucks and buses.
IEdrives can provided its fixed reduction as either a standalone gear box, or as a fully integrated component of a shiftable EV transmission.
Recommended reduction ratios:
1st = 3.0:1*, 2nd= 1:1

Input Shaft Options
IEdrives can provide an adaptor to match any motor output to IEdrives transmission input. For splined motor shaft diameters of 1.5 inch (40 mm) or less, IEdrives can offer direct coupling of motor output shaft to the female IEdrives input spline. Contact IEdrives for more information.
Bell Housing or Mounting Plate
IEdrives provides design and fabrication of bell housing or mounting plate as necessary.
Bell housing – motor to gear box mounting
A bell housing is required when an input shaft adaptor connects motor shaft to gear box. Adds 3-4 inches to total installed length depending upon motor shaft length
Adaptor plate – motor to gear box mounting
A simple adaptor plate can be used when direct motor to gear box connection is possible. Adds less than 1 inch to the motor/gear box length.
Output Shaft Options
IEdrives can provide nearly any common automotive driveshaft spline as a no cost “off-the-shelf” option. For all others, IEdrives can match the spline. IEdrives can also provide adaptors and matching Flange Yokes to accept U-joints 1480, 1550, or 1610. These compact adaptors allow standard bolt on driveshaft attachments to any of IEdrives’ transmissions or drivetrain components.
Alternative, customer specified, terminations can be provided.
